Wizards v Hornets Game with Lion Dance Halftime Show

I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been to a basketball game. Jeremy Lin is the reason for my attendance at nearly half of these games. Hey, this is just what happens when Jeremy Lin turns your dad into a basketball fan.

In any case, our family drove into DC this past Saturday to watch the Washington Wizards face off the Charlotte Hornets (+ Jeremy Lin). He had some brightly blue shoes, and did well (to my untrained eyes), but not quite well enough for the Hornets to win. Final score: Wizards 109 to Hornets 101.

It also turned out to be Asian Heritage Night (honestly now, was this programming decision motivated entirely by Jeremy Lin’s presence–and therefore substantially higher percentage of Asians in the audience–at this game?), so the halftime show included a set of lion dance. Nice job, CYC and East Rising. They could have fit a few more lions in there, the arena’s huge!

I was really far up in the stands, so all the pictures look generally the same, with different colored ants scattered differently across the floor. Didn’t get close enough for a shot of Jeremy Lin–this time, anyway!
